The Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act was implemented in 1972, with various provisions for protecting habitats.
The central government also announced several project for protecting specific animals, which were threatened, endangered including the tiger, the one-horned rhinoceros etc.
Various biosphere reserves have been set up in various parts of India where wild animals and birds are kept in their natural habitat.
Periodic censures are being taken to find out the latest position of some rare species so that they can be preserved for our future generations.
