According to officials, many visitors have climbed on top of the instruments to click photos. "We always discourage visitors from sitting or climbing on the three instruments. Heavy pedestrian movement is leading to gradual fading of the markings in the instruments. Now, a notification has been issued in the gazette making this a violation under the Act,'' said an official. The markings on the instruments are still used to predict the times and movements of the sun, moon and planets by astronomers and experts.
