What steps have been taken by the government for the development of agriculture in India ?
The Central and State governments have taken the following five important steps for the progress of agriculture in India :
The government under the five year plans have consolidated the small holdings into big blocks in order to mechanize the agriculture.
The government has undertaken to supply seeds of good quality to the farmer so that agricultural output is increased.
The government has started supplying chemical fertilizers to the farmers. Many factories have been set up to meet the demand of chemical ferilizers.
In order to increase the agriculture output new machines are being used for agriculture.
Many multipurpose projects have been completed. Dams have been built across the rivers and the water thus stored is used for irrigation. Bhakra-Nangal project and Damodar Valley Corporation are examplees of this type of projects.
