                      Our Environment - Steps to Protect it

    Our Environment is a very essential part of our life.  It is basically the  atmosphere, and surrounding geographical area.  Quality of our life depends on it, we all know that.

    Long ago, people lived adapting themselves to the environment and could not harm it.  Now it is degraded due to deforestation, air and water pollution, vehicular pollution, global warming, green house gases, depletion of Ozone layer, depletion of natural mineral resources, wastage of energy, burning of fossil fuels and so on.

    Long ago, people could live according to principles dictated by environment in a way that is harmless to the environment.  Nowadays we are harming and degrading the environment and indirectly harming ourselves – physically and biologically.  Also the ecological system is affected.  The balance and recycling phenomena in ecosystem are tampered with.  That could lead to disasters.

     As we know the causes, the steps to take protective measures are obvious.  Save trees, save water, save fuels, use fuel wisely, invent green technologies and spread awareness among people.  Educate children about the serious consequences.  Stop pollution of air and water bodies.  Stop production of harmful plastics and polythenes.  We should use only naturally degradable materials.  Plant seedlings and water them in our localities.  Throw garbage only in garbage bins.  Use only eco-friendly paints.  Do not use harmful crackers in festivals.  Use only eco-friendly materials and not plaster of Paris for Ganesha and Devi maa idols during festivals.

    We must use harmless manufacturing and usage processes.  We must use reduction, reuse, regeneration and recycling methods.  The governments of various countries and the United Nations Organization must take strong actions to save our environment at a global level.  We must invent green technologies that are economical for use by all people.
