Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe took various steps to remain in power. Two such reasons are:
# He began the rigging campaign well in advance even before the actual election date was officially announced. Vote rigging is actually a form of electoral fraud.
# He took complete control over the state media. Although news outlets telecast news about all voting parties, 90 percentage importance was given to Mugabe and his party.
