Plans to form the Indian constitution were made several decades before India won its freedom from the British rule in 1947.

The constituent assembly had various meetings with the public for close to three years. There were a lot of discussions and debates regarding this in the assembly. After this, all the assembly members signed the document pertaining to the formation of the Indian constitution. There were two copies of the document - one in hindi and one in English. Both the copies were signed by all the 308 members.

1.All indian provinces were alloted seats in proportion to their population.

2.They recorded the voice of the members of the constitution.

3.Representatives from the Indian states were elected by consultation and discussion.

The documents taken to form the Indian Constitution were:

The Indian Constitution was drafted by Motilal Nehru and eight other leaders in 1928.
The resolution at the Karachi Session of the INC on how independent India’s Constitution should look like, in 1931.
Both these documents were committed to the inclusion of universal adult franchise right to freedom and quality and protecting the right of minorities in the constitution of independent India.
