Here is your answer
In a federal system, the national and state governments are at par with one another. Both governments have equal power and one government cannot overpower the other. The following are some steps taken by India towards adopting federalism.

# Formation of a two-tier government with regional level State Governments and national level Central Government

# Division of the country into various states based on language spoken

# Declaration of India as an amalgamation of states

#  Decentralization of regional level governments with Panchayats and Municipalities at the rural and urban levels respectively

Thanks for waiting

Federalism in India refers to relations between the Centre and the States of the Union of India. The Constitution of India establishes the structure of the Indian government. Part XI of the Indian constitution specifies the distribution of legislative, administrative and executive powers between the union government and the States of India.[1] The legislative powers are categorised under a Union List, a State List and a Concurrent List, representing, respectively, the powers conferred upon the Union government, those conferred upon the State governments and powers shared among them.
