In amoeba, the digestion of food is an intercellular process, in which amoeba cell takes in food a particles in a form of food vacuoles. This vacuole, later on fuse with lysosomes which releases two enzymes; amylase and protinase that breaks down fats, carbohydrates and cellulose into simpler substances.  

The nutritional factor of food particles is absorbed by amoeba whereas the undigested stuff releases from the body.
