let the required sum be 'p '

given yield(S.I) = Rs 50 ,

time = 6 months = 6 /12 = 1 /2 = 0.5 yr

rate = 4 % p.a (correct)

since, we know that

S.I = p × r × t /100

50 = p × 4 × 0.5 / 100

50 × 100 = 2p

2p = 5000

p = Rs 2500

therefore, the sum is Rs 2500.

Answer : Rs 2500
