Given :

Amount (A) = 43200

Rate (R) = 5%

Time (T) = 5 years

To Find :

The sum of money will amount to Rs. 43,200 at 5% p.a. simple interest

for 5 years

Solution :

Let the principle be Rs. 'x'

We know, Simple Interest (SI) = Amount(A) - Principle(P)

                                                 =  43200 - x

The formula for simple interest is \frac{P*R*T}{100}

where, P = Principle; R = Rate; T = Time

Simple Interest (SI) = \frac{P*R*T}{100}

⇒     43200 - x        =  \frac{x * 5 * 5}{100}

⇒     4(43200 - x)    =  x

⇒     172800 - 4x    =  x

⇒                      5x   =   172800

∴                         x    =  Rs. 34560

∴ Rs. 34560 will amount to Rs. 43,200 at 5% p.a. simple interest  for 5 years.
