Question :

  • What sum/principal will amount to ₹12,400 in 2 years at 12% per annum. simple intrest?

Given:

  • Amount = ₹12,400

  • Rate = 12%

  • Time = 2 Years

To Find :

  • Simple intrest

Solution:

Let the principal be P

Therefore ,

  • I = \frac{P * R * T }{100}

.

  • I = \frac{P * 12 * 2}{100 }

  • I = \frac{6P }{25}

I = \frac{6P}{25}

Amount = A = P + I

= A = P + \frac{6P}{25}

= \frac{25P }{25} + \frac{6P }{25}

= \frac{31P}{25}

But A/Q

Amount is given as ₹12,400

\frac{31 P}{25} = 12400

31 P = 25 * 12400

P = \frac{25 * 12400}{31}

P = 10,000

Principal = 10,000

So Intrest =

\frac{3 * 10000}{25}

1200
