1. India is a land of religious, social and cultural diversity. Democracy helps in promoting equity among people.
2. In India, democracy is not simply rule by majority opinion but even the opinion of the minority is taken into account for a general view. lso this majority does not refer to a social, cultural or religious minority.
3. There is universal adult franchise and citizens have the right to choose their leaders and there is always room to correct mistakes because in our country elections are held every 5 years.
4. The formal Constitution of our country is the binding force. Pressure from media and groups helps to prevent decisions which may be based on the opnion of one section of the society.
5. Because of the recent reforms in politics, care is taken to reduce the use of muscle and money power and the deserving people who want to serve the country can take up top party positions now.
6. The government has taken measures for the welfare of the weaker sections of the society. This enhances the dignity of a person.
