The story ‘The Bicycle’ is written by Dash Benhur. The story is about a school going boy name Mike who hikes one mile a day to go to school. At times, his father would drop him. He asks his parents to gift him a bicycle for his birthday. When his parents couldn’t, he understands that they are not in a position to afford. He once finds a boy riding a bicycle which is much smaller compared to his size. He sees that the boy slips and meets with an accident because of the small bicycle. Mike helps the boy and saves him from danger. As a reward, the boy presents Mike with the bicycle.
I think that the symbolic meaning conveyed in the story is that even though you are in a situation that you cannot get things that you like, your good heart and your good deeds would always follow you with rewards. Even though you won’t be able to get things you like, you will get them if you have a good and a genuine heart.
