  • Weight can be defined as the amount of gravitational force acting on a body. It is usually calculated as mass times the gravitational force acting on the body. This can be represented as w = mg.
  • Mass is different from weight as it is the amount of matter that is contained in that body. The amount of mass of a body determines its weight.
  • Therefore, a feather which has negligible mass has a lesser acceleration due to gravity and hence has less weight. A rock is more dense with matter and hence the gravitational force on it will be large, giving it more weight.
