Historians are mostly left-wing academics so of course they treated Ronald Reagan with criticism and disdain. They have rewritten history to make Reagan look bad because he was a conservative Republican.

Reagan cleaned up Carter’s economic mess in two years and created years of prosperity for the American people. As a result they elected him in an overwhelming landslide. He won 49 of 50 states. He was so popular he passed the presidency to his successor in his own party. He was the only president to do this in the last 72 years.

In addition Reagan won our longest, most expensive and potentially most dangerous war, The Cold War with the Soviet Union. He did it by building up our military. Unfortunately, this historic victory required some deficit spending. The leftist historians have, of course, twisted this great win into something negative as well.

I say we forget about what the historians say from their ivory towers and look at what the American people said about Reagan at the ballot box.

Ronald Reagan was one of our greatest and most successful presidents.

I would note that leftists and Democrats here on Quora are even now saying that Reagan did not win 49 states. I just tried to educate one to this fact the other day; to no avail, of course. Their lies and propaganda about Ronald Reagan is so pervasive that young people have a completely warped view of the Reagan era.
