Explanation:

Homogeneous regions associate units with the same or similar characteristics. In the homogeneous region its parts are comparable according to the selected criterion (for example cities with a certain number of residents, families with children, seniors, people working in health care, agriculture, etc.). Individual characteristics may interact (unemployment and average income) or can be completely or almost independent on each other (education and hair color). These defined regions can variously rapidly change borders. The main feature of homogeneous region is thus the homogeneity (sameness) within the examined characteristics.

Functional religion

According to Fouberg, Murphy, and de Blij’s introductory textbook on human geography (eleventh edition), “a functional region is defined by a particular set of activities or interactions that occur within it.” Thus the following can all be considered as functional regions:

A rain forest where a community of trees, birds, and mammals has lived continuously for centuries;A farming community defined by the agricultural lifestyle and shared cultural heritage; andA corporate headquarters, where an organization of people works towards a common goal of production or service.
