Answer:

The mean refers to the average value of a list of items . The median is the middle number in a data set when the numbers are listed in either ascending or descending order. Mode is the value that occurs the most number of times  in a data set.

Step-by-step explanation

The mean ,mode and median are measures of central tendency as used in statistics. In statistics data can either be grouped or raw(not grouped). We will concentrate with raw data for now.

The mean refers to the average value of a list of items. it is obtained by adding up all the values in the given data set and dividing the total by the number of items in the data set. The formula below is used to obtain mean for raw data.

Mean = total sum of all items in a data set/ number of items within the data set

The median is the middle number in a data set when the numbers are listed in either ascending or descending order.

Mode is the value that occurs the most number of times  in a data set.

Example

Find the mean, median, mode, and range for the following list of values: 13, 18, 13, 14, 13, 16, 14, 21, 13

Solution:

Given sequence: 13, 18, 13, 14, 13, 16, 14, 21, 13

The mean is the usual average so we apply our formula for unsorted data;

Mean = total sum of all items in a data set/ number of items within the data set

         =(13+18+13+14+13+16+14+21+13)/9

         =135/9

         =15

Therefore 15 becomes the average or mean of the given set of values

The median is the middle value, so to rewrite the list in order:

13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 16, 18, 21

There are nine numbers in the list, so the middle one will be

= the 5th number, so, the median is 14.

The mode is the number that appears more often than any other in a given set of data, therefore 13 is the mode.
