Initially a spring has length l1 and at time t it has length l2. Unstretched length of the spring is l0.
Total change in enegy,
E=∫l2l1Fdx=−∫l2l1k(x−l0)dx=k(l2−l0)2−(l1−l0)22As you can see the fina expression only depends upon the initial and the final length of the spring, one on the path via which it was deformed. So elastic force of a spring is a conservative force.
