what the length of the longest rod that can be kept inside the box of 6cm×8cm×7.5cm ?please answer properly ​

let us imagine that hhe box has a base of 7.5cm x 9cm and it's height is 6cm

step 1 : find the diagonal of the base = X

using Pythagoras theorem for the base.

X= √(7.5x7.5 +8x8)

X =√120.25. = 10.965cm

now the longest rod will be the diaoganal that goes from the base rectangle of the box to the top rectangle of the box in opposite sides.

thus it will be triangle with side 6cm , 10.965cm and the diagonal Y

using Pythagoras theorem again.

Y= √(6x6+10.965x10.965)

=√(36+120.25)

=√156.25

=12.5cm.
