One good example of that its the axis powers contitutions who were implemented by the allies after the war.

The german contitution was formed with the intention of preventing an authoritarian conservative regime( like the 2 Reich , the DNVP or even the AFD) or, expecially, a new national—socialist regime, to rise to power. Its basically made to prevent populistic parties to gain assets in the Reichtag.

In Italy a similar thing was made, but in this case the Allied powers didnt had the excuse of the atrocities commited by nazi germany to easily implement everything they wanted, in fact even some pro—fascist politicians helped to make the contitution. This is why it is normal in Italy to see people who miss Mussolini or are pro—fascist there, even though the center italian parties are trying to promote the same anti—fascist/nazi laws that exist in germany.

Japan was directly pressed to adopt an peacefull constitution, the japanese cant even sent troops outside of their country and dont have an official army. Besides that the americans forced deomocratic liberal indoctrination on the japanese people.

The portuguese contitution can also be a good example of this , after the overthow of the New State regime and the traitorous measures the coup makers they implemented laws to prevent the army to enter the government and to prhoibit autjoritarian right regimes to gain power.

The american contitution can also be an example with the amendments who have lasted to this day.

Our constitution did not grow out of a vacuum. We have to remember, that when our country came to be, it came from a monarchy. And we wanted the opposite of that. That is why we never had and never will have a king or queen.

We wanted a society that on one hand has rules but on the other hand has freedom for the people. So we decided to let the people decide who would rule over them, henceforth, free elections and equal branches of government, executive, legislative and judicial.

As for the things that are considered: freedom of speech and freedom of the press. In a monarchy, those freedoms might not be tolerated. And speaking out could upset the king or queen and get you killed, fast.

Also taken for your consideration: freedom of assembly. In a monarchy, freedom of assembly could mean another French revolution, where Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI ended up getting beheaded.

Also: freedom of religion: In 1535, Thomas More was beheaded by King Henry the VIII, over a religious difference. Henceforth, we have religious freedom in this country, which primarily seeks to protect the church from the state, not the other way around, as some would have us believe.

And finally, and most importantly, is that we are all created equal and endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights. These rights cannot be taken away by the government or its powers, they are ours by right of birth. That alone gives everyone a chance to be themselves to their fullest potential.

As for making it more democratic and long lasting? That depends on the changing times. nobody would have imagined same sex marriage in Abraham Lincolns day. Women voting in John Adams day would not have passed. So times do change. And that is understandable. As long as the really important things that keep us together do not change.
