The three dominant traits shown by the dramatist about the woman in the play are greed, selfishness, decreasing concern over their father. Overall he tries to point out the degradation of moral values in the modern and urban world. The dauthers of abel merryweather - elizabeth and amelia are very quick over dividing their fathers property as soon after his assumed death. Amelia even hands over his fathers sippers to his husband. Elizabeth agrues over the gold watch and amelia exceeding it all already pinches his fathers belongings. They even had an argument that they would not like to have their father with them , this shows how they are not concerned about their father.the dramatist indirectly tells us that degradation in such values will cost us to when we get old

Hope it helps :-D
