First of all, realise and accept that Depression can happen to anyone, at any age and that you needn’t feel indifferent/ ashamed of it in anyway. It is in fact a great thing that you’ve known you are into Depression and seek forth to overcome it.
Let’s do it!
1. Speak out!
The most importantly, speak out about how you feel inside your heart. Be it to your parents, your teachers, your good friends, a random stranger or just yourself in the mirror, ooze out all your emotions. Are they listening/ how would they react is very secondary (though most of the people would react in their best possible positive way as they as well might have gone through such a phase). You letting out your emotions is the primary task. Once you’re done, you’d definitely feel so free, light hearted, valued, confident and happier!
There might arise situations, you don’t have people around to talk to. Then, go for a book, write down your emotions, treat your book as a different person and help that person out genuinely in every your kind of way (helping yourself ultimately)!
Phones are absolutely of great help here as well.
There many campaigns aiding the depressed, going online which you can make use of by sharing your stories anonymously without any fear of being judged!
Also, there are many helpline numbers, which are just a call away from shooing away all the low vibes.
2. Try new environments!
It is a very common thing that when we are depressed, we submit ourselves to it automatically and at times, suicidal thoughts take over your brain. Then, you gotta fight them back! Dig out your inner strength and add it to your weakening hope. Distract your thought process. Go to a different environment. Play sports. Listen to uplifting music. Try learning new skills. Bring back your childhood talents. Read your favourite books. Just anything good to have yourself occupied in a beneficial way!
3. Medical help is your ally!
Sometimes, we may not feel alright no matter what we do. That’s when you should know you need to seek medical help. It’s just as normal as taking a pill for a stomach pain but yes in a different manner. There’s nothing nothing nothing at all to feel embarrassed about it. You’re helping your body, your mind, soul and your own self. Why feel stigmatised of it? It may be just uncommon in your family/society. Why not become an inspiration then? Go ahead, champ!
4. Self sufficiency!
This is the most beautiful thing to do. It is one possible way to prevent as well as overcoming depression. Always, believe and remember, what you are is you and the best that can ever happen to you. Just kik away all sorts of comparisons. Throw into the bin all kinds of bias you think you exist. Leave your insecurities at the bay. Give a dummb ear to the never ending mockery. You’re adorably and undoubtedly the perfect version of yourself . You’re trying everyday to get better and you’re not giving up. Isn’t this what the humans do? Of course this is it. Never consider yourself lesser. Never give up on yourself. Have the faith. Carry the hope along.
