first of all create and nurture best human aspect out of your life.
focus on what you are learning now . and without skipping your childhood journey and curiosity , grasp the things which are happening around you(social,economical,national,international, regional,scientific, etc).
develop your viewpoint towards any event you come across. learn the real meaning and practical aspects of these.. like…
be compassionate , open minded , logical, rational,have fortitude, leadership skills, communication, objectivity , ethics, honesty, integrity, impartial attitude,truthfulness , opinion v/s conclusion .
these are the traits which will be added in your personality and will be reflected in your life.
now lets have a look at direct approach ..
read newspaper daily (the Hindu and any vernacular )
watch rajyasabha tv and loksabha tv, DD news, DD kisan.
study your basic books 6th to 12 th NCERTS and apply theirs content on daily affairs.
select your graduation subjects which interests your skills and gives you satisfaction .
(do not disturb you current studies at the cost of prep for UPSC or any exams which you are dreaming for.)
develop some hobbies — at least one for physical and another for mental dimension.
whatever i am suggesting you is not something which is directly asked by competitive service exams but gradually you will understand the meaning of this journey.
its like when you join 1st std , you are first taught alphabets and arithmetic and not grammars and equations. this will work as same as that.
remember, one shouldn't raise desire to become something but desire to deliver something . you are in 8th std so you have golden opportunity of not just clearing this exam but for the real purpose for which you desire to opt into this field.

Δ Read all ur social books especially history books line by line..
Δ Be updated of daily news..
Δ Be thorough with the states and the capitals and also the CM and Ministers of each and every states....
Δ Read more books .....Read books about the IAS officers who have already done more good things for the country..
Δ Keep a diary and write down new schemes that u would imply on the lives of people after you become an IAS officer.....Everyday ...plan a scheme and think of the steps to organize it...
Δ Fix in ur mind that u r an IAS officer ...
