Answer:
The Sangam Age was the period of history of ancient Tamil Nadu and Kerala and parts of Sri Lanka (then known as Tamilakam) spanning from c. 6th century BCE to c. 3rd century CE. It was named after the famous Sangam academies of poets and scholars centered in the city of Madurai.
These Tamil poets composed the Sangam literature and the period in which it was composed is called Sangam Age. During this age there were three important Tamil kingdoms- the Chera, Cholas and the Pandyas. ... The Ashokan Empire inscriptions mentioned the Cheras, Chola and Pandya rulers on the south of the Mauryan Empire.
The Sangam literature includes Tolkappiyam, Ettutogai, Pattuppattu, Pathinenkilkanakku, and two epics named – Silappathikaram and Manimegalai . Tolkappiyam was authored by Tolkappiyar and is considered the earliest of Tamil literary work.
