The answer is evaporation and capillary action. Due to evaporation or transpiration a suction is created at the top of the plant which cause the water to move upwards. The movement is supported by capillary action along with adhesive and cohesive forces between the water molecule and the wall of the tube and among the water molecules themselves respectively.
