what type of bonding will be formed between calcium and oxygen

atomic number of calcium = 20
so its configuration 2, 8,8,2
so it has excess of 2 electrons
now atomic no of oxygen is 8
so its configuration 2,6
it is lacking two electrons
so there is tranference of 2 electrons from calcium to oxygen
so there is IONIC bonding between them
