What type of bonds will be formed if the difference in electronegativity of combining atom is very large?

Formation of Ionic bonds will take place if there is a large electronegativity difference. As there will be a generation of partially negative and positive charges on both individual atoms.
The atom with more electronegativity acquires negative charge and the other which is less electronegative or more electropositive will acquire positive charge.
