A process called 'Hydrogenation' is carried out in converting unsaturated alkene hydrocarbon into saturated alkane hydrocarbon. Vegetable oils are converted into vanaspati ghee by hydrogenation (treating with hydrogen). Here, unsaturated carbon-carbon double bonds are converted into saturated fatty vanaspati ghee.
