what type of education system was prevalent in pre British time

Before British, India was ruled by Moghuls and kings. Education was provided through gurukuls and ashrams during those times. It lacked technology but arts, ethics. discipline, life-skills, sports, physical education, etc were all taught in abundance.

A person who was knowledgable in a field taught children as their apprentices. Each teacher had his own way of teaching and treating students. There was no specific pattern or regulation or limitations. Students gained entire education, from basics to the latest concepts.
It was more like a tuition or classes kinda system or you can say personalized education . (It was much more better than the present ones.)
