Infrared Radiations

Earth receive different type of radiations from the sun. Some of it in the form of infrared radiations gets reflected back but the carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere trap these radiations and prevent it from reflecting. These are very hot and increase the temperature of earth. The warming of earth atmosphere in this way is called green house effect

So infrared radiations are trapped by green house gases
