sexual mode of reproduction is significant for evolution as in this case, the offspring recieves DNA from both male and female and hence the variations area more leading to evolution.

1) Sexual reproduction involves combination of maternal and paternal gametes.
2) Offspring exhibit diversity of characters.
3) Meiosis during gametogenesis provides opportunities for new combination of genes. Thus, it plays a prominent role in the origin of new species and leads to variation required for evolution .
