⇒ N-type of semiconductor is obtained when silicon is doped with phosphorus.
We use boron, arsenic, phosphorus & gallium to dope Silicon in general.
Phosphorus have five valence electrons in its outermost shell. When we dope the silicon with phosphorus, four electrons of the Phosphorus form covalent bonds with four neighboring silicon atoms.
So the majority carriers in this type of semi-conductor are electrons, so it is an N-type semiconductor.
