✨ HEY MATE ✨

➡️Like all metal carbonates, calcium carbonate reacts with acidic solutions to produce carbon dioxide gas.
➡️It is this reaction that is responsible for limestone fizzing when dilute hydrochloric acid is placed on its surface.

Any type of carbonate or bicarbonate produce carbon dioxide on reaction with acidic solution. If we allow calcium carbonate  to react with hydrochloric acid then we get carbon dioxide as gaseous product. Here we also get calcium chloride as by product. In this reaction a large amount of heat is evolved. This reaction is irreversible reaction if it is carried out in open container.
