The law of conservation of mass can be best observed in any type of chemical reaction that is a closed system.

Explanation:

The law practically can be observed in different types of systems. Even when we observe our own eco system, we can see how well the eco system balances itself. The total mass within the system does not change, as it remains consistent.

But the best example of the law can be seen when use observe any type of chemical reaction.

 In any chemical reaction you have the reactant side and the product side.

 Before and  after the reaction you will observe that the mass or the reactant is always equal to the mass of the product side.

 The elements and its mass on the reactant side is always equal to the mass of the elements on the product side.

 No new element is added to the system.

So it is certain that the system was closed. Thus the law of conservation of mass can be best observed if the system is closed.
