Passive transport doesn't require energy to facilitate transportation of molecules across the plasma membrane. For instance, Diffusion is a mode of passive transport that doesn't involve energy changes. Although, diffusion is limited to gases.

  • Active Transport involves the expenditure of energy. Conduction of amino acids. potassium ions, sodium ions and glucose is through active transport.

  • Concentration Gradient (Difference in turgor pressures) affects osmosis; conduction of water. Water always flow from hypotonic gradient to hypertonic gradient.

  • Transfer of substances across the phospholipid bilayer is achieved by specialized proteins, commonly called as Facilitated Diffusion.

Option (b) is correct.
