hey yar here is ur answer
Light waves” are called photons.

As to what “type” of wave, this question will get you more answers then what you’ve bargained for.

There are three different kinds of waves:

Mechanical waves
-transverse waves, longitudinal waves, and surface waves.Electromagnetic wavesMatter waves

Electromagnetic waves, or light waves, are considered to be transverse waves. The link to Wikipedia is there for you to check it out.

I bet you’re wondering though, what exactly are light waves? Don’t waves require a medium? Well, this is how the luminiferous aether came into being. However, theMichelson–Morley experiment proved that there is no stationary medium for light to travel.

So, photons might be, from what I’ve heard, an excitation of space. Thus they are fundamental to the fabric of space, from this definition, which I personally like the best.
