Ammonia salts are formed when the ammonium cation (NH₄⁺) interacts with an anion of chlorine, florine, nitrate, nitrite etc. Ammonium salts are found in sea water, near volcanoes, rain water and in fertile lands. Ammonia reacts with acids to from ammonia salts, as it is basic in nature. Ammonia salts do not have odor like ammonia.
Inorganic salts:
Ammonium chloride - NH₄ Cl - white crystalline & soluble salt. Mildly ACIDIC salt.
Ammonium Sulfate - (NH₄)₂ SO₄ - white crystals & soluble in water. mildly ACIDIC salt.
Ammonium Floride - NH₄ F
Ammonium Nitrite - NH₄ NO₂
Ammonium Nitrate - NH₄ NO₃
Ammonium Phosphate - (NH₄)₃ PO₃
Ammonium carbonate - (NH4)2 CO3 :
Organic salts
Ammonium acetate - NH₄ (CH₃COO) - slightly acidic salt
Ammonium Citrate - (NH₄ )₄ (CHO)(COO)(CHOCOO)₂ - slightly acidic salt
Molten salts:
Ammonium Chloride and Methyl Ammonium Nitrate (C₂H₅)(NH₃)⁺ ⁰ (NO₃)⁻,
which is also called ionic liquid.
Mono Ethanolamine
