The points about freedom that were granted to the citizens of France after French Revolution are as follows.

1) A new and very important law came into effect just after the storming of the Bastille in the summer of 1789 was the abolition of censorship.

2) The declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen proclaimed freedom of speech and expression to be a natural right.

3) In the Old regime all written material and cultural activities like books, magazines, newspapers, plays could be published only after they had been approved by the Censors of the King.

4) Newspapers, pamphlets, books and printed pictures flooded the cities and town of France from where they travelled rapidly into the countryside. They all described and discussed the events and changes that were taking place in France.

5) Freedom of press also meant that opposing views of about any event could be expressed. Now the different ideas could be expressed through the print media.
