The major type of microorganisms are --
1 Protozoa -Protozoa are unicellular microorganisms. They can move from place to place. They vary in shape and form very simple to complex structures . They are capable of locomotion and move with the help of cilia,flagella or pseudopodia.
2 Fungi - Fungi are present everywhere from deserts to very cold regions but they grow best in dark,warm and moist places .Fungi are of different sizes,some are unicellular or some are multicellular.
3 Algae - They are organisms that have cell walls and chlorophyll within the cells. They make their own food. They have no roots,stems or leaves. Algae can be unicellular or multicellular. They are found in snow ans some in hot springs.
4 Bacteria - bacteria have lived on earth for much longer than human beings. They are also called decomposers
5 Viruses - They are microscopic and most primitive organisms. They show the characteristics of living as well as non living beings .They do not have cellular structure like other organisms.
