Vividh Bharathi Service was started in 1957 by All India Radio to conflict Ceylon radio.
It reached very quickly in every house in India.
Daily VBS radio service entertained people nearly 17 hours.
It gives a mixture of programmes such as skits, short plays and attractive programs.
The famous programs of VBS are Sangeet Sarita, Hawa Mahal, Chhaya Geet etc.
In that period, VBS also launched modern programs such as Sakthi Saheli, Hello Farmish and Bioscope audio picture.
These programs are created in Mumbai and transmitted through satellite.
After few years the famous Hindi Cinema personalities such as Lata Mangeshkar and Amitabh Bachchan are also served as the announcer in VBS."
