the caged Bird represents the woman who are enslaved and maya Anglo also refers to the rasscism of whites upon black as maya Anglo is herself a black poet and she was also tortured by white people so both are the things you would include in your answer

you can also include points from the poem like about the fat worm about the bird gliding with the air where she can fly freely opening her wings where as the caged Bird cannot do any of them her wings are clipped

she is encaged inside a small cage where she can barely move and all she can is sing for freedom which shows hope is present even in the darkest things this hope helps her survive that one she will be free
