The play, Mother’s Day written by J.B. Priestly, gives a very valuable and relevant message. The playwright has tried to bring the issue of mothers being neglected and mistreated by their family members; they treat her like a servant. Through the events in the play, the playwright masterfully portrays the plight of mothers at almost all homes. They do all the work; they do most of the sacrifices; and yet they don’t get enough respect and appreciation from family members. The playwright has indirectly taught us that we must respect our mothers more and be grateful to them for what they do for us.

The play Mother’s Day has a very valuable lesson for its readers. Even though the mother is often a housewife, she should not be ignored. Her efforts must be recognized and she must be appreciated for the hard work that she does to keep the house in order. A mother also needs rest/leisure and some time to herself although she does not go to work outside the house. In other words, weekends and holidays are not restricted to those who go out to work or are in service. Mothers must never be taken for granted by children and a husband should not depend on his wife to do everything for him.
