 {x}^{2}  - 10x + k =  \\  {x}^{2}  - 2 \times x \times 5 +  {5}^{2}  + k -  {5}^{2}  =  \\  {(x - 5)}^{2}  + k - 25

for perfect square, k–25 = 0

so k = 25
