Answer:if x+1 should be the factor of p(x) , then p(x) must be equal to zero..
So we get,
x+1=0
x=-1
Putting x= -1 value in p(x).... We get,
P(-1) =2(-1) ^2-a(-1)-(2a-3)(-1)+2
P(-1) = 2+a-(-1) (2a-3) +2
P(-1) =2+a-(-2a+3) +2
P(-1) =2+a+2a-3+2
P(-1) =1+3a..... (1)
Since, we know that x+1 should be the factor of P(x), we get....
P(-1) =0
So,
1+3a=0...... From eq(1)
3a= -1
a= -1/3
See and understand the simplification properly....
