What volume of oxygen is required to burn completely a mixture of 22.4 dm3 of methane and hydrogen at 11.2 dm3 into carbon dioxide and steam - equations ch4+ 2o2-co2 + 2h2o , 2h2+ o2- 2h2o

finding the amount of oxygen for CH4
CH4+2 O2------------------>CO2+2 H2O
from the equation we know that 1 mole of CH4 requires 2 moles of O2
and for gases the number of moles at a constant temperature and fixed pressure are fixed
so 22.4dm3 requires 44.8dm3 of O2

finding the amount of O2 required for the complete combustion of H2

2 H2+O2------------------>2 H2
the number of moles of O2 required for complete combustion of 1 mole of H2 is 1/2 moles

by using the same concept used above

the number of moles of O2 required are 5.6dm3

hope it helps ...............
