what volumes of ethyl alcohol and water must be mixed together to prepare 250ml of 60% volume solution of alcohol in water?

Let volume of alcohol be x
60/100=x/x+250
3/5=x/x+250
X+750/5=x
X+750=5x
5x-x=750
4x=750
X=750/4
X=187.5
Therefore,the volume of alcohol is 187.5ml
