What was an independent trade union so important for Poland?

In Poland the trade unions were controlled and are under the hands of the Ruling party. Therefore, there could be no independent trade union.
When the workers of the Lenin Shipyard went for the strike, it was considered illegal, because there was called as the Independent group of Workers and are not Authorised trade union. In order to have the Justice, the workers must have Independent trade union.Independent trade unions are necessary because they can take up the cause of the workers in the better and organized manner and and get their demands Fulfilled.
Therefore  Independent trade unions are important for Poland.
