Story name : Last Leaf -O' Henry....

Old Mr. Behrman is a painter ,staying on the ground floor of the same bulding where Johnsy and Sue live.He has been called an unsuccessful artist for forty years.He always wanted to paint a masterpiece but he never done it.in starting of the story he only painted a few advertisements etc for earning.

He regards  himself as a watchdog for sue and Johnsy. At the end of tthe story he expresses his contempt and conciousness towards Johnsy's irrational fear by painting a  leaf on the wall on a dark and windy night.


This leaf was  his masterpiece not only because he painted well at night yet the reason is the leaf gave confidence to the sick girl who loose all the hopes of leaving.

Alas! his concern for Johnsy causes his own death.

Thus while making this sacrifice he becomes  an immortal character...
His immortal sacrifice bring life and cheer back to a sick girl and makes the story memorable and interesting too....
