The ivy leaf was behrman's  masterpiece because it saved Sue's life. She was suffering from an illness and was depressed. She thought that when the last leaf on the ivy creeper would fall , she would die the same day. Behrman came to know about this. That night , a storm hit the area and Behrman saw that the last leaf on the ivy creeper fell. He took green and yellow paint , paintbrushes , a lantern and a ladder and went to the ive creeper. There he painted the ivy leaf and the next day when Sue woke up , she saw the painting and thought that it was the last leaf. Hence, she realized her mistake and her will to live returned again. Hence , Behrman died due to pneumonia but painted a masterpiece that saved a girl's life.

-Red, please check that it was sue or johnsy who fell ill.
