chipko andolan was a movement in which the village people grabbed and surrounded the trees tightly to save the trees from cutting...

as the people saw the villagers grabbing the trees they didnt cut them......

this benefited the environment bcs ,as the trees' cutting reduced,deforestation reduced.

Explanation:

The Chipko movement was started to stop the cut down of forests. In this movement, people were involved to conserve forests and stop the destruction due to cut down of forests. It is an example in which common people comes together to conserve trees and forests. It was originated in village Reni in Garhwal when people hugged the trees to stop them being cut by contractor’s worker.

This Andolan ultimately benefitted the local people and the environment as the forest trees were saved and this andolan spread in all the communities and the environment was safeguard.
